I don't have a question, but I just wanted to say I found out about four bands from your photos. I guess I thought the bands looked interesting and then I listened to their music and now I like them a lot. I don't think I would have heard of them otherwise. The bands are The Coathangers, The Garden, Cherry Glazerr, and Mac Demarco. Thank you for taking great photos.

whoa, awesome! glad you liked the photos (and the bands).

you've photographed some v rad bands/musicians, do you have a sort of bucket list going on of bands/musicians you'd love to shoot?

i’ve thought about this and in the past i might’ve had some in mind, but there’s no real bucket list anymore. i guess more than anything i’d like to capture moments that people will associate with a certain place and time, like when you look back on iconic old photos of certain musicians/bands.

what kind of music do you listen to when you're having a bad/less than typical day?

good question… i might wallow in it with some radiohead, smiths, tame impala, or joy division; fight through it with some old school black flag, minor threat, off!; or hit reset with some growlers, strokes, or king tuff.

Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?

interesting question… obviously neither choice is ideal, but since i wouldn’t be able to function without new memories, i would have to sacrifice the old ones. hopefully i’d re-learn only the good stuff… #eternalsunshineofthespotlessmind

really love your stuff man, what advice would you give amateur photographers who wanna start shooting shows?

thanks a lot!

advice: learn how to use your camera’s histogram (if shooting digital), good low light lens > best camera body, start by shooting smaller shows, practice, have fun, then try to connect with journalists / publications.
